Now granted the same "hideaway" nightstand could be there instead, with perhaps one drawer and sliding doors being provided to keep your privacy as to what's in your nightstand. Interestingly enough there are some bedrooms that are so small that even having a nightstand is prohibitive space wise. Thus, those people tend to hang lamps from the ceiling or install them into the wall if that's feasible, as I've often found in efficiencies. The clever room decorator will have some sort of table that functions as both side table for the couch, and functions as a nightstand at night. Usually these are on rollers, making it very easy to make the transition. This works very well with a Murphy bed as you can imagine.
Imagine if you will, a bed that has a wide amount of wood on each side of the bed, encasing the mattress as it were. This kind of unique style bed will probably hold drawers in its base for ample storage, and the edges of the bed act as nightstands for small items necessary to the sleeper. This type of bed also does away with the need for a nightstand.
Mirror nightstands with their highly reflective surfaces are a natural eye catcher and conversation starter. Most people in fact have never seen mirrored furniture before and are instantly impressed at just how much they stand out and add to a room. This makes them a great idea for anyone looking for a focal point which is not just attractive but functional too.
